Testimonial

My husband and I started working with Ms Jennifer in 2012 trying to find the perfect house. I believe we have looked at every single house in New Bern and in Havelock and all the while Ms. Jennifer was very patient with us. Finally the perfect house presented itself and we were able to jump on it.  Ms. Jennifer worked very hard and very fast to help make our dream possible. We are very grateful to Ms. Jennifer and all of her team for their help and support. After four years we are moving into our dream house and plan to live there are very long time. Thank you Ms. Jennifer

Down East Wood Ducks

PLAY BALL!

As many of you who have known me for a long time, know that I am a huge sports fan! It really doesn't matter what sport it is, I am a huge fan....except Basketball. Throwing a ball through hoops isn't interesting to me.

One of the great things about being in New Bern is we are close to two different baseball teams-- Morehead City Marlins and the Down East Wood Ducks. Because I went to the Woodies game last night, that will be the team that I discuss in my blog today.

If you are from Eastern NC, you'll remember that Grainger Stadium used to be home to the Kinston Indians. They left Kinston in 2011 and there hasn't been a team play there since. Now, Grainger Stadium is home to the Down East Wood Ducks! This is their first season here in Eastern NC.

Here is their bio that I pulled from their website:

Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Texas Rangers, the Down East Wood Ducks enter their inaugural campaign, playing all home games at Grainger Stadium in Kinston, North Carolina. Before moving to North Carolina, the Rangers' High-A California League affiliate had been located in High Desert, CA for the past two seasons after four years in the Carolina League at Myrtle Beach, SC from 2011-2014. Prior to that time, Texas had not been affiliated with the Carolina League since having a farm club in Salem, VA in 1986. Texas had its High-A club in the Florida State League at Port Charlotte from 1987-2002 and in the California League at Stockton in 2003-04 and at Bakersfield from 2005-10.

The Wood Ducks join a new Houston Astros franchise to expand the Carolina League by two teams beginning with the 2017 season.

Every home game, there will be a different promotion. For instance, every Friday there will be a post game fireworks show and its Food Truck Friday. On Thursdays, its $1 Beer Night and on Sundays, the kids get to run the bases after the game (Note:: more kids in attendance for those who don't want to hang around kids).

Pictured below is their mascot, DEWD. (Boy do you know you're in Eastern NC with that name and spelling!).

Testimonial ;)

I recently worked with Jennifer Johnson to buy my first home. I never thought I would be in the position to own a house, and have only heard horror stories of how stressful the process could be. Now that the process is complete, and I'm actually sitting in my house all I can say is- call Jennifer!  From showings to my closing, I almost didn't realize that I was buying a house. It couldn't have been less stressful, more fun, or any easier. I am so grateful to Jennifer for working with me and would highly recommend her to any buyers- new or experienced.

The Show Must Go On

New Bern Civic Theatre

Over the past few months, I have been to quite a few shows. I am a HUGE Broadway fanatic just incase you didn't know. RENT would have to be my favorite. New Bern Civic Theatre did an excellent job with that play too!  I've seen a few plays on actual Broadway and just recently saw RENT at DPAC and it was amazing. What's even more amazing is that New Bern has its own Theatre with amazing local talent.

A couple of months ago, my friend, Stewart, was in a play called DEATHTRAP! Now, usually I am a musical type of woman, but this was an amazing play and cast. Only 5 or 6 Actors in that play and it kept me entertained the entire time. Also cause Stewart died twice in the play so it was good!

This past Friday night, I had the privilege to get tickets to a SOLD OUT completely show to Mary Poppins. Surprise Surprise--I have never seen the actual movie so I definitely was excited for this play. One of the things I have always been fascinated about was kid actors in movies. How do they memorize long scripts that good? Well--these kids in Mary Poppins were a HIT! They had the entire play memorized and were phenomenal.

A lot of times, people think "Oh, its just our local theatre putting on a show"....NO, let me tell you something. These are TALENTED actors. If I didn't know I was in New Bern, I would've thought I was on Broadway. I mean, you trying spelling "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" at least 10 times. I had to copy and paste that word into my blog--thats how hard it is to spell. Not only were the adults spelling that word in the song--so were the kids!!

So--with all this talk, get out of your house and go support our local theatre and see these talented people who live right here in our town. Check out the 2017 schedule at the Civic Theatre:

  • Next to Normal
  • Gem of the Ocean
  • Once on this Island
  • To Kill A Mockingbird
  • Catch Me If You Can
  • Around The World in 80 Days
  • Aida

Not only is there the New Bern Civic Theatre ,  there is another Theatre down the street called RiverTowne Players.

Oh and don't forget, if you're looking to buy, sell or invest in real estate--you know who to call! And incase you don't, its me!

Gables Run

Gables Run

The other day, I was showing a house in this beautiful community of Gables Run and I'm not sure if it was the weather or the horses in the pasteur, but it made me want to share this hidden neighborhood with all of you!

Gables Run is located off of Hwy 70 at the same light as Carolina Colours and the new Harris Teeter so it is very convenient to downtown and also MCAS. There are a total of 35 homesites in the community.  The great thing about this community is that the homes don't sit on small lots. They all have acreage with them. Depending on the lot, you can even keep your own horses on your property! If you don't want them on your property, there is a great Equestrian Center that you can keep them at. Along with boarding horses at the Equestrian Center, you can take lessons there and even have events!

If you have kids and want them out of the house, there is even a play ground in the neighborhood for them to go have fun at!

If you are interested in living in this beautiful equestrian neighborhood, please see the website
below to see the available homes/lots for sale:

For more information about the Equestrian Center,  see the website below:

Give me a call if this is a neighborhood you'd like to call home!

Sailboating Adventures

Bolero Sailing Charters

So...if you are my friend on Facebook, you are probably noticing that I have been living on the water lately. Not sure what has gotten into me lately but I have been loving it! It has also been curing my fear of the water! I can swim but I cannot tread so I am scared to be on the water. ANYWAYS, enough about my inability to survive if I fall off a ship......

I booked this sailing charter for a group that I have organized and as a gift, the Captain thought it would be nice if I could see what the trip would be like before actually taking the trip. I have never been sailing before so this definitely was a first for me. Here is the amazing boat below:

The captain also let me invite one guest so I brought along one of my friends, Michele. This was a first for her as well. We met at the dock next to Persimmons at about 6:45PM to sail off at 7PM for a sunset cruise. Due to the storm that was headed our way, we stayed in between the Neuse River Bridge and the train tracks from New Bern to Bridgeton. Our sunset cruise was about 90 minutes long....he does let you bring your own beverages too!

The best part about the the evening was that he actually let you steer the sailboat (well really it was him letting me play the theme song to Titanic by Celine Dion and him singing it but that won't happen on every boat ride). I only steered for about 1 minute which was long enough for me to put on the sailors hat and take a photo for instagram, facebook and this blog. My friend Michele, however, steered the boat for at least twenty minutes. Pretty cool I think. See posed photo below:

There are two different times that you can go sailing. You can go from 1PM-2:30PM or do the sunset cruise from 7PM-8:30PM. I thought the sunset cruise would be such a pretty view and boy was I right!! I'd show you a picture but I uploaded them all to my work computer and I'm home now leaving for Texas for a few days so your imagination will have to do. But believe me, the view was GORGEOUS! Now, you're probably wondering what this all cost to go sailing around downtown New Bern. Only a whopping $20!!!! The boat can hold up to 12 guest a time so a great family outing too!

TESTIMONIAL

This goes out to Jennifer Johnson and "Team New Bern".
Jennifer was our buying agent for about 18 months before we found "the" house we were looking for.
She always made herself available for numerous showings and was QUICKLY reachable by text or email.
Personable, knowledgable, and all  around fun to work with. Probably the best thing we liked about her was the no-nonsense approach to representing us. When asked for her opinion, she didn't tell us what she 'thought' we wanted to hear. She gave us her true feelings on the subject.
Would recommend again - with no reservation!
