Testimonial ;)

I recently worked with Jennifer Johnson to buy my first home. I never thought I would be in the position to own a house, and have only heard horror stories of how stressful the process could be. Now that the process is complete, and I'm actually sitting in my house all I can say is- call Jennifer!  From showings to my closing, I almost didn't realize that I was buying a house. It couldn't have been less stressful, more fun, or any easier. I am so grateful to Jennifer for working with me and would highly recommend her to any buyers- new or experienced.

The Show Must Go On

New Bern Civic Theatre

Over the past few months, I have been to quite a few shows. I am a HUGE Broadway fanatic just incase you didn't know. RENT would have to be my favorite. New Bern Civic Theatre did an excellent job with that play too!  I've seen a few plays on actual Broadway and just recently saw RENT at DPAC and it was amazing. What's even more amazing is that New Bern has its own Theatre with amazing local talent.

A couple of months ago, my friend, Stewart, was in a play called DEATHTRAP! Now, usually I am a musical type of woman, but this was an amazing play and cast. Only 5 or 6 Actors in that play and it kept me entertained the entire time. Also cause Stewart died twice in the play so it was good!

This past Friday night, I had the privilege to get tickets to a SOLD OUT completely show to Mary Poppins. Surprise Surprise--I have never seen the actual movie so I definitely was excited for this play. One of the things I have always been fascinated about was kid actors in movies. How do they memorize long scripts that good? Well--these kids in Mary Poppins were a HIT! They had the entire play memorized and were phenomenal.

A lot of times, people think "Oh, its just our local theatre putting on a show"....NO, let me tell you something. These are TALENTED actors. If I didn't know I was in New Bern, I would've thought I was on Broadway. I mean, you trying spelling "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" at least 10 times. I had to copy and paste that word into my blog--thats how hard it is to spell. Not only were the adults spelling that word in the song--so were the kids!!

So--with all this talk, get out of your house and go support our local theatre and see these talented people who live right here in our town. Check out the 2017 schedule at the Civic Theatre:

  • Next to Normal
  • Gem of the Ocean
  • Once on this Island
  • To Kill A Mockingbird
  • Catch Me If You Can
  • Around The World in 80 Days
  • Aida

Not only is there the New Bern Civic Theatre ,  there is another Theatre down the street called RiverTowne Players.

Another blog written by yours truly,

Jennifer Johnson

Oh and don't forget, if you're looking to buy, sell or invest in real estate--you know who to call! And incase you don't, its me!

Gables Run

Gables Run

The other day, I was showing a house in this beautiful community of Gables Run and I'm not sure if it was the weather or the horses in the pasteur, but it made me want to share this hidden neighborhood with all of you!

Gables Run is located off of Hwy 70 at the same light as Carolina Colours and the new Harris Teeter so it is very convenient to downtown and also MCAS. There are a total of 35 homesites in the community.  The great thing about this community is that the homes don't sit on small lots. They all have acreage with them. Depending on the lot, you can even keep your own horses on your property! If you don't want them on your property, there is a great Equestrian Center that you can keep them at. Along with boarding horses at the Equestrian Center, you can take lessons there and even have events!

If you have kids and want them out of the house, there is even a play ground in the neighborhood for them to go have fun at!

If you are interested in living in this beautiful equestrian neighborhood, please see the website
below to see the available homes/lots for sale:

For more information about the Equestrian Center,  see the website below:

Give me a call if this is a neighborhood you'd like to call home!

Sailboating Adventures

Bolero Sailing Charters

So...if you are my friend on Facebook, you are probably noticing that I have been living on the water lately. Not sure what has gotten into me lately but I have been loving it! It has also been curing my fear of the water! I can swim but I cannot tread so I am scared to be on the water. ANYWAYS, enough about my inability to survive if I fall off a ship......

I booked this sailing charter for a group that I have organized and as a gift, the Captain thought it would be nice if I could see what the trip would be like before actually taking the trip. I have never been sailing before so this definitely was a first for me. Here is the amazing boat below:

The captain also let me invite one guest so I brought along one of my friends, Michele. This was a first for her as well. We met at the dock next to Persimmons at about 6:45PM to sail off at 7PM for a sunset cruise. Due to the storm that was headed our way, we stayed in between the Neuse River Bridge and the train tracks from New Bern to Bridgeton. Our sunset cruise was about 90 minutes long....he does let you bring your own beverages too!

The best part about the the evening was that he actually let you steer the sailboat (well really it was him letting me play the theme song to Titanic by Celine Dion and him singing it but that won't happen on every boat ride). I only steered for about 1 minute which was long enough for me to put on the sailors hat and take a photo for instagram, facebook and this blog. My friend Michele, however, steered the boat for at least twenty minutes. Pretty cool I think. See posed photo below:

There are two different times that you can go sailing. You can go from 1PM-2:30PM or do the sunset cruise from 7PM-8:30PM. I thought the sunset cruise would be such a pretty view and boy was I right!! I'd show you a picture but I uploaded them all to my work computer and I'm home now leaving for Texas for a few days so your imagination will have to do. But believe me, the view was GORGEOUS! Now, you're probably wondering what this all cost to go sailing around downtown New Bern. Only a whopping $20!!!! The boat can hold up to 12 guest a time so a great family outing too!

TESTIMONIAL

This goes out to Jennifer Johnson and "Team New Bern".
Jennifer was our buying agent for about 18 months before we found "the" house we were looking for.
She always made herself available for numerous showings and was QUICKLY reachable by text or email.
Personable, knowledgable, and all  around fun to work with. Probably the best thing we liked about her was the no-nonsense approach to representing us. When asked for her opinion, she didn't tell us what she 'thought' we wanted to hear. She gave us her true feelings on the subject.
Would recommend again - with no reservation!

Why Hire Me??

Why you should hire me to be your Real Estate Agent!

When working with new buyers, people always ask me "why should we hire you instead of __________." Well, there are a lot of reasons why you should hire me as your agent versus someone else and I'm going to let you know those reasons!

--- I have been in the real estate business since 2009. Now you may say that isn't as long as some other Realtors but I'm not old enough to be alongside some of them, so I'll get to that point of why younger is better

---I do this FULL TIME and rely on my income alone to support my pets and myself. I do not have a spouse and I am not collecting retirement from a previous job. This isn't a JOB for me. This is a lifestyle for me and its something I am passionate about. I am not only your Realtor during the process but I am still your Realtor afterwards to assist you with any questions! You can't get rid of me that easily ;)

---Being 25 (almost 26!) means that I have grown up in this technology world and know every device/gadget with my eyes closed. Where some agents still have to go to the office, type the paperwork, print the paperwork and then come find you for wet signatures, I can do it all from my mobile device within seconds. By the time others get their offers signed....I have it already negotiated and UNDER CONTRACT

---I have lived in New Bern since 1995. I went through the school systems (Ben D. Quinn, Grover C. Fields and New Bern High School). I played the sports at Creekside Park and at Kidsville. I know every neighborhood (almost every street.....ask my co-workers, we tested that theory) in New Bern. Although I do not go out socially regularly, I am always aware of all of the events going on.

---I am the Lead Buyer Specialist for Donna & Team New Bern. My one and only task, is to assist BUYERS from start to finish and still be there for you after you own your new home. I do not work with Sellers and I haven't in over 4 years. I dedicate all of my time and training to being the best Buyers Agent in New Bern. You get full representation when you work with me.

---I work on Donna & Team New Bern. In 2015, our team sold over 170 homes alone. That is more than most real estate firms total sales. We were ranked #14 in Keller Williams between North Carolina & South Carolina. When you hire me, you hire my entire team. If I am ever unavailable, I have a team who jumps in to help. You ALWAYS have someone. When you go UNDER CONTRACT, you have two closing coordinators to make sure your home buying process goes as smoothly as possible. We go above and beyond to give you the best experience in buying a home. Also--being on the top team in New Bern, we know a lot of homes available before they even hit the market so we can get you in first!

The main reason though to hire me as your agent:

BECAUSE THEY SAID SO! I tend to agree with them :)

DISC GOLF

DISC GOLF

What is DISC GOLF you ask? Lets face it....most people have no idea with DISC GOLF is. DISC GOLF is a game in which you throw a plastic disc into a series of metal baskets situated on an outdoor golf course. The objective is to complete the course in the fewest throws possible. Long story short....it's golf but with specific "frisbees" and you throw it into a metal basket instead of a hole. Some people call it frisbee golf.

The course that Team New Bern played on the other day was the one at Glenburnie Park. Glenburnie Park is located on Glenburnie Drive which is right off of Oaks Road. There are 18 holes associated with this course...and it is not on flat land! You have to throw uphill, downhill, around the trees (or in my case at the trees). The park is located on the Neuse River as well so you have to avoid throwing it in the water. One way to avoid throwing it into the water...have your friends stay there to block it from the water. See photo below ;)

While I'm discussing DISC GOLF at Glenburnie Park, let me tell you a few other things you can do at the park. They have a dog park that has two separate fenced in areas. One for big dogs and one for small dogs. It has a 6 ft tall chain link fence with electronic access so a membership is required. If you are a resident of New Bern, it is only $25 a year.

There are also four available "shelters" to host parties/picnic at (you have to rent them if you have an event). The park also includes a boat ramp with paved parking, a fishing pier, a playground for children (I climbed the rock tower so I guess adults too) and restrooms.

For more information about Glenburnie Park or DISC golf, please visit the links below:

See you on the course (but stay clear of me--my discs do not go straight!)

TESTIMONIAL

Moving from New England to North Carolina was a tremendous challenge and having the right real estate broker made the whole process a lot easier.
Our agent, Jennifer Johnson, was very professional, well educated in the real estate and showed poise, understanding and committment in going far beyond  the usual steps in finding a home for us.

Her patience was tested on many occassions and at times arranged more than 10 showings a day making sure that each one was within the outline that we had supplied her with. We established a professional relationship as well as one of friendship that will continue in years to come.

We will not hesitate to recommend her to anyone who might be looking to purchase a home in the New Bern area. We also would not hesitate to recommend the Keller Williams name to anyone. The office staff was very courtious, professional as well as friendly. We were very comfortable each time we stepped into the office.

Our purchase was one that we contemplated for a long time and in the end it was Jennifer's experience and overall knowledge that helped us make our decision.

Fence Vendor

FENCE VENDOR

As many of you know by being my friend on Facebook or Instagram, I just bought a house in a subdivision called Deerfield, which is right here in New Bern. Before I start my blog post, I just wanted to thank those of you who has ever bought or sold a home through me or even referred business to me. I bought the home across the street from my mother and my childhood home so without you, I wouldn't have been able to do that. So thank you!

As you can tell from the photo above, I bought a home without a fence! Crazy me since I have two dogs who love to run free and enjoy the woods.....me not so much! With that said....first order of business was to get a fence! I ended up calling two different fencing companies to come out to my home and get me quotes and one ended up being 25% cheaper! The company I ended up using was Andys Fence out of Holly Ridge, NC. Andys Fence does a lot of our New Construction homes here in town so they are always here to do business! From when I met with them to completion was only three weeks which I thought was amazing since I didn't get a normal fence.

I have a backyard that slopes downhill along with shrubs and landscaping that was not straight! I had also ordered two different kinds of fences so I knew this would be a job. I got white 6 foot vinyl for the front fence and the side fences and then for the back, I got a 5 foot black chain link fence across the back. They had one guy come out to my house around noon for two days in a row and just like that, I had a fenced in back yard!

As you can see, Gracie is loving her new fenced in yard with the woods behind her that she can actually look at!! For other fence companies (which there are quite a few here in New Bern), click on the word FENCE. Definitely call around and find who fits your needs the best.

If you want to find me on facebook, click my name. JENNIFER

HOUSE OF THE MONTH!

3242 Austin Avenue

This year, I am going to start doing something new and doing one post every month on a specific house. Going to call it my "House of the Month."

This month, I am going to do a blog post on 3242 Austin Avenue. This home is a new construction home built by JC Jackson Builders, LLC in the wonderful community of Longleaf Pines. Longleaf Pines is located off of Highway 70 in James City behind Carolina Colours. Very convenient to Cherry Point Military Base and the beach!

The one thing I have always loved about JC Jackson homes is that he always puts granite countertops into all of his homes without it being an upgrade. That includes that bathroom countertops as well! This home is 2681 square feet with four bedrooms, two full bathrooms and a half bath. The best part about this home, in my opinion, is that it is heated and cooled with a gas pack which is run by Natural Gas. After living in a home heated and cooled that way, you do see a big difference in your utility bills....and in a good way I mean!

With 3242 Austin Avenue, JC Jackson is offering a free privacy fence AND $7,500 to use either towards upgrades or closing costs!

To view more information about this wonderful home, please click on the link: 3242 Austin Avenue

JC Jackson also builds in other communities such as Craeberne Forest and Lindenrain inside New Bern and also other communities in Havelock and Newport.

Please call me if you are interested in owning a JC Jackson home!
